Studio Alex Meitlis, founded in 1993, has established itself as one of the leading Israeli architecture and interior design studios. Alongside local recognition, the studio also established itself in the international market with iconic projects, such as the Ottolenghi delis and Nopi restaurant in London, awarded by Wallpaper magazine for the best new restaurant in 2012.
The work in the studio ranges from private high-end residential projects to public buildings and spaces, these include hotels, restaurants, offices, showrooms, exhibits, and retail in Israel and abroad. The studio's approach is to provide a design package, in other words, a ‘Total Design’, where architecture, interior, industrial and graphic design come together to form a complete concept and outcome. In the process design, every detail count, every material is important.
Collaborating with artists has always been a major part of our studio’s work. Five years ago, the artist Ivo Bisignano joined our studio. The cooperation with Ivo gave birth not only to new conceptual ideas but also to new possibilities of providing complete design solutions that include design, art, and branding, tailored to a specific project. In 2014, Alex Meitlis established the Alex Meitlis showroom and studio in Shoreditch, London, to further expend his worldwide operation. Our recent projects include Hotel Calimala, a boutique hotel in Florence, the café chain Matto in NYC, the new Ottolenghi restaurant, Rovi, in London, and other commercial and residential projects.
The studio’s team includes highly experienced architects and designers. We are proud of our passion and ability to constantly reinvent ourselves, creating for every one of our customers a unique and one of a kind project.
Alex Meitlis graduated from the Department of Architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Art & Design in Jerusalem (1984).
